-This course will explore new approaches to thinking about the challenges which living and working in the 21st century pose. The historical and philosophical basis of traditional Anglo-American attitudes towards material success, work, motivation and competition ("survival of the fittest), will be examined in the light of the complex realities of the world today.  In this context, the particular significance of new concepts such as right-brain thinking, social intelligence, flow and 'mindfulness' will be considered. The texts will be in English. The discussions will be in German and/or English.
