Y'all need to understand that we are not and emotional person when it comes to books. No, I promise I am not saying heartless, I recently don't cry easily. Yes, during books my pulse rate accelerates and I'll shame the characters, however i don't actually cry. That is among the only books where We've come this all-around tears. And thats saying something.

When I buy into each of the emotional part of this book, I have to first speak about the characters.

Katniss is fantastic. She's incredibly strong and fierce. Now, that's one of the best type of heroine and I are aware that sometimes this category will blend together but something I like about her would be the fact although she can be this stuff like a lot of other heroines available, she's not quite lovable and witty like most others. She's standoffish and a loner and it takes a number of years for a person to acquire by way of her. She's mature beyond her years because she's to get. She became the sole supporter of her family at this kind of young age and it also hardened her. She's a survivor. But sometimes this tough exterior became her downfall because she couldn't always see what's right in front of her: the fact people care about her. However, although its difficult to get past her hardened exterior, when you do, jane is a remarkably kind and admirable person. This is particularly shown through her actions with the reaping. She cared much on her behalf family that they was willing to risk her lifetime, if you know her chances for returning were slim, just to keep her sister safe. If this isn't ought to have respect, however have no idea of what's.

Peeta is another great character. He's pretty much the whole opposite of Katniss. He's personable, caring, and charming. He truly really cares about Katniss regardless of whether she can't notice herself. Although you may do not get to find out to much about him because from Katniss' perspective, you may still observe that he's admirable qualities too. Normally I love the alpha male as well as the bad-boy (I guess its kinda my weakness) however do also discover the sweet, respectful guys we fell head-over-heels for his heart.

For secondary characters? Amazing. Each was unique in their own personal way. Effie, sweetly oblivious Effie. Haymitch, who may drink a bit to much, but has a heart under that surly exterior. Cinna, who truly loves Katniss while he hardly knows her. Perhaps the other tributes each had his or her personalities that made them unique (Don't even get me going on Rue!).

This book only agreed to be so incredibly emotional. 24 kids go into an arena and just 1 arrives. I honestly can't even imagine finding yourself in their situation. I'm sure which i would do whatever it took to survive, wait, how would that change me? Each tribute was only looking to survive. They did not wish to be there (well, except some), but were expected to be. When your facing your immediate death, how would you react? Survival changes people. These different reactions with their situations were shown remarkably well through all the various tributes. Collins' does a wonderful jobs of showing how different people would fare in cases like this. While all the bloodshed when it comes to is disturbing, the most disturbing thing for me personally was the belief that the people of the Capitol enjoyed it. Children were dying and them it turned out just entertainment. They were completely oblivious!! It had been all simply a game for many years. So long as they were entertained, these were happy. It was sick. Completely and utterly sick.

And to boost the comfort, I felt awful for the other tributes, even while they attemptedto kill Katniss and Peeta. How would you not? They were thrown in to a situation many weren't prepared for and just hoping to get home. Whilst they were her enemies, I felt pity and guilt right along with Katniss. She, too, knows that these people were only doing whatever they were required to just do like she was.

The Hunger Games could be a dark book about death and destruction, but within its dark exterior is a beautiful story filled with survival, hope and fighting for the purpose you adore.
