Now most of those are on the Gulf of Mexico and the other is on the east side of the state north of Orlando. The Treasure Coast is quieter and less packed than the Gulf side of the state.

The Treasure Coast is the area south of Melbourne but north of the throngs of West Palm Beach and South Florida. This is a less crowded area located between the two. Right between the Fort Pierce inlet and Sebastian inlet lies some of the best beaches in Florida and they are uncrowded with water that can be tropical blue. Unlike the water north of here such as in Melbourne the water here can be a tropical blue. The water in Melbourne and north can be cloudy or sandy more often than not. We are at the edge of the tropics here which is evident in the water at times.

Beach access is right next door at South Beach Park which we are next to. The park is divided into two parts. There are barbecue grills, picnic tables, public restrooms and grassy areas near the parking. The beaches are on the other side of the tropical growth and you use one of the three boardwalks to get there. Vero Beach has three public beaches and South Beach Park has the widest area of sand of the three. Between the tropical growth and the water there is usually at least 60 yards of sand. At high tide the 2 northern parks have very little sandy beach. The shopping district is near the middle of the three public beach parks.

Almost anything you want can be found in the shopping district. It is full of a wide assortment of shops. The stores include a wonderful kitchen shop, homemade candy shop, several terrific clothing stores a unique mens shop, some really nice jewelry stores and many others. Less than a mile away on the mainland is another shopping district which is called the Miracle Mile. If you want an indoor mall all you have to do is go west on Route 60 as you do so you will also pass many of the big box stores.
