Candida is a naturally occurring fungal growth which can spread to become a severe infection known as candidiasis if left untreated for extended periods. When there is enough good bacteria in the body, candida is kept in check. In a candida crisis, these good bacteria are outnumbered by the bad bacteria. Illness, poor diet, or a course of antibiotics are often the cause of such an occurrence. When this happens, the normal candida level may increase to a severe case of yeast infecton that can prove harmful to a person. The best way to ensure that the body does not become vulnerable to a candida attack is to focus on a diet aimed at warding off yeast infections.

Candida overgrowth can be caused by lifestyle issues such as stress, poor diet, and ill health. Commonly, candidiasis exhibits its uncomfortable symptoms during pregnancy and during a course of antibiotics. Candida overgrowth can be life-threatening to someone with serious immune problems if it turns into a body-wide condition.

Candida does, however, have a few indicating symptoms to alert sufferers early on to the need to combat the overgrowth. Common symptoms include skin infections, eczema, athlete's foot, genital itching, and toenail fungus. Babies often suffer from yeast overgrowth as is evidenced by oral thrush, stubborn diaper rashes, and cradle cap.

Less than obvious candidiasis symptoms are numerous. A few of them are flatulence, heartburn, food cravings for carbs and sugar, lack of energy, indigestion, and depression. Yeast infections have also been blamed for low body temperature and low blood sugar, among many other conditions.

One of the main reasons why candida grows out of control is because of antibiotics. Hence, it makes sense to stay clear of extensive use of antibiotics. Those suffering from candidasis symptoms must also stay away from meat from livestock treated with antibiotics.

Further, sweets can also lead to an increase of candida in the body. Those who are prone candidiasis, should stay clear of foods that are high in sugar. In addition, they must not binge on white rice, white bread, cereals, and crackers because these are easily converted into sugar in the body. The best approach is to entirely eliminate all processed foods from the diet.

Just as there are foods to avoid when treating yeast infections, there are also foods that should be eaten in abundance. A candida cleansing diet includes organic meat and cultured dairy from animals and poultry that have not been treated with antibiotics. Vegetables, brown rice in moderate quantities, and fruits such as berries, green apples, and lemons are also helpful. Fruits can be eaten freely if one’s condition is not serious. If the case is extreme or chronic, however, it is better to eat fruit only in moderate quantities. Healthy microorganisms in the form of probiotics are helpful to combat yeast infections. Probiotics can be found in Yakult, yogurt, miso, tempeh, and kefir.

There is also an array of supplements that help cure the body from yeast infection. Cinnamon, curry, coriander, and cloves are greatly beneficial in the battle against candida overgrowth. Other common kitchen supplies, such as oregano oil, coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, and ginger are also helpful. These products are commonly available in health foods stores.

As candida overgrowth is a result of a failure to strengthen the body’s immune system, there is no better way to cure it than using the body to fight it through cleansing and proper nutrition. Consuming the right foods is something many people do all the time. It can be done! Candidiasis sufferers have an even stronger motivation to get on track with their diets.
